Verner Panton is well-known for the
Panton chair design. And even though it is one of his only creations , he would
still be considered a master of modern design. With this chair, the first
single-formed injection-molded plastic seat, he created one of the most daring
designs of the 20th century.
Concept:
As its name implies, the chair is made in an S shape to it
can be stackable and at the same time keep its sleek and curvaceous attributes.
History:
Created in the 20th century , Verner Panton
created an innovation in the designer world. The Panton chair is the world’s
first moulded plastic chair. The shape can also be attributed to the new style
reflecting the “Space Age” that is also known as Pop Art in the 1960s.Not only
was it a sensation when it first appeared, especially for the Dansih design,
but nowadays is part of the permanent collections of some of the world's most
famous design museums including, New York's Museum of Modern Art, London's
Design Museum, Berlin's German Historical Museum and Copenhagen's Danish Museum
of Art & Design
